I have been doing handstands almost my entire life, since taking up gymnastics at the age of 3. My goal is to be strong, balanced and resilient enough (literally and figuratively) to be doing them at age 100.
Handstands have proven to be a wonderful travel companion and ice-breaker. Originally on a bet with friends, I began doing handstands in far-flung places on my travels: the pyramids at Giza, vineyards in Tuscany, and the Colosseum in Rome. Gradually they took on a life of their own. Children in particular love them -- and often join me in the fun antics.
Handstands are also a great manifestation of my "upside-down" perspective: things look different -- and new ideas are generated -- with a different lens on the world!
